Dr. Shyamamani Devi began her career as child artist of AIR Cuttack in 1950.Subsequently, she has given her voice as artist, senior artist in the branches of AIR at Cuttack, Kolkata and Mumbai. Now, she is the top grade artist of AIR. She is also a well-known artist of Door Dharsan, Bhubaneswar and different T V channels of Odiya 

Dr Shyamamani Devi was associated actively for training and teaching “Odishi” and other traditional music of Odisha in her personal capacity as well as in recognized Institutions like “Sambalpur Kalaparishad”, the first Odishi Institute in western Odisha. She was principal of Kalavikas Kendra, Cuttack and also visiting professor on Odishi music at Utkal University of culture, Odishi Research Centre and Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalay, Bhubaneswar. She imparted training on this music at her own residence as well. And  attended various training programmes and workshops organized by  SNA(Sangeet Natak Academy) and ORC(Odishi Research Centre) for imparting training on traditional and Odishi music in different   districts of Odisha in both Rural and Urban areas.

Some of her students have now excelled in their respective fields and are further spreading and popularizing the music in different parts of the globe. Due to her strong passion for the growth and development of this classical music, Dr. Shyamamani  has extended her immense support and guidance for conducting research & extensive studies on the origin, history, evolution and systematic development  of  the music. Few research projects under her guidance have been well appreciated by different universities of the country.

She has been associated in all activities of AIR starting from the staff selection, up gradation of the artists being the member of staff selection and audition Board. As the advisor to AIR, she has rendered expert advice on the various development programme and broadcasting issues. She had also been associated with Eastern Cultural Zone at Kolkata as one of the members for development of traditional folk song and music in Eastern part of India. Mrs. Shyamamani Devi is now associated with different Government and non-Government cultural organizations and clubs of the State for promotion of the music.
