Beside her immense love for “Odishi”, the classical music and other traditional form of folk music of Odisha, she was an extremely popular playback singer of Odiya and Bengali film as well as Modern songs. Her relentless effort and devotion to the growth and enrichment of ‘Odishi’ music is incomparable. She is also well known for her effort in popularizing and recognition of “Odishi” as a classical music at par with other classical music of the country. The name of this artist is synonymous with “Odishi” music and folk songs of Odisha. She has curved a niche for herself in this music with her distinct and unique style of singing and music.
She is recognized and known to her audiences as“Nightingale of Odisha”, “Kokilo Kanthi”and many other titles as bestowed upon her due to melodious voice and passion for the music.
